Research
Where defenses leak, who takes what shots, and where the points really come from. Every number is computed from play-by-play, box scores or NBA.com tracking in this repo.
Who gives up the rim and the corner
Field-goal % each team allowed in each zone this season, from every located shot in play-by-play. Green means the defense allowed more than the league in that zone (good for the shooter); red means it held the zone below league. Click a header to sort.
Defense vs position
Points, rebounds, assists or threes that each defense allowed per game to guards, forwards and centers, from hoopR box scores, 2025-26 only. Positions come from the listed position in each box score, so a combo player counts in one group.
Each cell is what that defense allowed per game to that group, compared to the league average for the same group. Sorted by the G column by default.
Shot mix: catch-and-shoot vs pull-up
How each player creates his attempts, from NBA.com tracking for 2025-26 (players with at least 150 attempts). Catch-and-shoot is a spot-up look; pull-up is a dribble jumper. The three-point rates show which way each shot type is working.
Usage vs true shooting
Players with at least 20 games and 15 minutes a game. Dashed lines are the medians of this group. Top right are high-usage, high-efficiency players; bottom right are high-usage players whose efficiency lags.
